May 2025 — Cape Town, South Africa
On 14 May 2025, SAMAC proudly hosted Chairman Ma Zengjun and fellow members from the Chinese Agricultural Wholesalers Association (CAWA). This engagement marked an important step toward deepening economic cooperation between South Africa and China in the macadamia sector.

A key focus of the discussions was advancing lobbying efforts for tariff reductions on South African macadamia exports from 12%. Lowering these trade barriers will help create fairer conditions, enhance competitiveness and improve access to one of the world’s most promising consumer markets.
South African macadamia handlers and processors took centre stage with compelling business pitches, showcasing their high-quality products, services, and readiness for export to China. Delegates were also treated to a tasting session featuring premium macadamias, adding a delicious highlight to the event.
This successful visit reflects SAMAC’s continued commitment to building global partnerships, supporting local growers, and driving long-term growth for the macadamia industry.
We extend our sincere thanks to the CAWA delegation and look forward to future collaboration and shared success.
