Responsibilities
Stakeholder Engagement Portfolio
The Stakeholder Engagement Portfolio aims to develop a comprehensive strategy for engaging both primary and secondary stakeholders by continuously communicating through various mediums (presenting at events, publishing on social mediums, website, SAMAC App, etc), the latest and most relevant information and identifying additional information that would add value to stakeholders.
Digital communication
- Develop and execute comprehensive digital communication strategies across multiple platforms.
- Manage newsletters using Mailchimp and execute email marketing campaigns.
- Oversee social media channels and enhance social media marketing strategies to boost brand visibility.
- Maintain and update the website and SAMAC app, ensuring they function as key information hubs and member portals, including analytics.
- Coordinate and host webinars.
- Produce and manage engaging video content and oversee all content creation and photography.
- Manage branding and corporate identity (CI) efforts.
- Oversee public relations activities.
- Implement effective SEO strategies.
- Create and implement overall marketing strategies.
SAMAC Journal
- Develop and plan engaging and informative content for the annual SAMAC Journal, ensuring it meets the needs and interests of our audience.
- Collaborate with designers, writers, photographers, and other service providers to produce high-quality journal content.
- Oversee the entire journal publication process, including timelines, budgets, and milestones, to ensure timely and successful releases.
- Select and manage images and photos to complement the journal articles and enhance visual appeal.
- Produce digital versions of the journal and coordinate their distribution to reach a wide and relevant audience.
- Continuously evaluate and plan content to ensure it remains relevant and valuable to our target audience.
Events
- Oversee the planning and execution of key SAMAC events, including but not limited to the Future-focused Workshop, Transformation Summit, Bank Day, and Macadamia Conference.
- Develop detailed event plans, coordinate logistics, and manage all aspects of event execution to ensure successful outcomes.
- Handle all project management tasks related to events, including timelines, budgets, vendor coordination, and post-event evaluations.
- Coordinate and manage all communications and promotional campaigns for events, ensuring consistent and effective messaging to maximize attendance and engagement.
Market Access & Development Portfolio
The Market Access and Development Committee plays a pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of the South African macadamia industry. Tasked with devising robust strategies for both market access and development, the Committee aims to propel the industry forward by identifying market growth opportunities, fostering local and international relationships, lobby for tariff reductions and staying agile in the face of evolving market dynamics.
Alignment with WMO Strategy
Collaborate with the World Macadamia Organisation (WMO) to align with its market development strategy and objectives, ensuring maximum value for the industry.
Marketers Toolbox
Develop and provide a comprehensive “toolbox” of essential marketing resources to empower exporters and enhance their capabilities.
Category vs Brand Marketing
Analyse and assess the effectiveness of category versus brand marketing strategies to optimize the positioning of South African macadamias in the market.
Marketing and Consumer Awareness Campaigns
Research, develop, and execute targeted marketing campaigns aimed at increasing the consumption of South African macadamias.
Market development campaign support
- Assist and where needed manage the execution of additional campaigns identified by the World Macadamia Organisation (WMO) or other stakeholders.
- Conduct thorough market research through a third party to identify trends and opportunities.
- Coordinate and manage events such as the Chane Chef Competition to promote macadamia consumption effectively.
Requirements and key competencies
- Requires a high level of experience, knowledge and responsibility.
- +6 years of work experience.
- A minimum of 3 years mid-level marketing experience.
- Relevant Degree in marketing/Communication and/or Brand Management.
- Ability to communicate strategic recommendations to executives based on comprehensive market analysis.
- Experience in identifying target audiences and crafting targeted campaigns that resonate effectively.
- Excellent understanding of the complete marketing mix, including digital marketing and traditional channels.
- Strong analytical skills paired with creative thinking, enabling data-driven decision-making.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to articulate complex ideas clearly.
- Valid driverโs license and own vehicle.

Responsibilities
Stakeholder Engagement Portfolio
The Stakeholder Engagement Portfolio aims to develop a comprehensive strategy for engaging both primary and secondary stakeholders by continuously communicating the latest and most relevant information and identifying additional information that would add value to them.
Primary and secondary stakeholders
- Coordinate logistics and manage all aspects of roadshows in relevant provinces to ensure successful outcomes.
- Provide administrative support to Handlers, Nurseries, and the SAMAC Board and Committees.
- Manage the design and content of the Legislative Information Hub on the SAMAC website.
- Respond to queries from government, media, and the corporate sector.
- Coordinate logistics and manage all aspects of events for government, media, and the corporate sector.
- Developing reports for government, media, and the corporate sector.
Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Board Meetings
- Inform stakeholders of the AGM date, time, and venue.
- Coordinate logistics and manage all aspects of annual nominations and elections of Directors.
- Draft the AGM Pack, including Notices, the Agenda, and Minutes of the AGM, subject to CEO approval.
- Finalise voting calculations in preparation for the AGM.
- Manage voting logistics at the AGM.
- Coordinate logistics and manage all aspects of Adhoc AGMs that might arise.
- Prepare and distribute board meeting agendas, supporting documents, and meeting packs in advance.
- Record accurate and detailed minutes during board meetings, ensuring all key decisions and actions are documented.
- Review and edit the draft minutes, incorporating any necessary changes, before circulating them for approval.
- Follow up on action items and decisions made during board meetings, ensuring timely completion and reporting progress to the board.
- Maintain an organised archive of all board meeting minutes, agendas, and related documents for future reference and compliance purposes.
Member Management
- Manage member queries from info@samac.org.za, the SAMAC WhatsApp line, the SAMAC phone, and social media.
- Oversee new member applications and subsequent onboarding processes.
- Manage membership renewals by following up with members to ensure a 90% annual renewal rate.
- Grow the membership base by demonstrating and communicating the value of SAMAC membership.
- Maintain the membership management portal (CRM), ensuring all data is accurate and up-to-date.
Office Management
- Coordinate logistics and manage all aspects of staff training and development, including identifying relevant topics, organising speakers, and handling dates and bookings.
- Plan and organise staff meetings, including setting agendas, scheduling dates, coordinating staff schedules, and arranging catering.
- Plan and organise staff wellbeing initiatives, including physical and emotional wellbeing programmes and training sessions.
- Manage staff recognition programmes, celebrating birthdays and achievements.
- Handle various office management duties including administrative support, facility management and meeting and event coordination to ensure a smooth and efficient workplace.
Requirements and key competencies
- Matric but preference will be given to persons with a Diploma or Bachelorโs degree in Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in stakeholder engagement, event management, administration or a related field.
- Proven experience in coordinating events and meetings.
- Experience in managing client engagement processes, including building and maintaining strong relationships, understanding client needs, and ensuring client satisfaction, is highly advantageous.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Proficiency in using Mailchimp.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
- Valid driverโs license.
