Cape Town, South Africa – September 2025
On 18 September 2025, The World Macadamia Organisation, in collaboration with SAMAC, proudly hosted the Love Macadamias South Africa campaign. The campaign is a dynamic initiative that aims to inspire South Africans to discover the nutritional value and versatility of our homegrown macadamia nuts, and locally pressed macadamia oil.
Conscious Consumption: Influencer, Amy Hopkins Sets the Tone

Amy Hopkins, beloved South African nutrition and wellness influencer was a keynote speaker at the event. With her signature mix of warmth and wisdom, Amy unpacked the incredible nutritional benefits of macadamia oil and kernel, linking their high monounsaturated fat content, omega profiles, and antioxidant properties to balanced, healthy living.
Over 120 nutritional studies have proven macadamia’s role in supporting heart and brain health and even as a vital part of an anti-inflammatory diet. Amy addressed the dynamic uses of macadamia nuts from a nutritious snack that can be enjoyed during high intensity endurance training to a premium ingredient that can elevate any dish. She also highlighted the high smoke-point and concentration of Omega 3, 6, 7 and 9 in macadamia oil, making this a healthier alternative for cooking and salad dresses. Check out Amy’s Instagram post.
S‘mac’king Good Food: A Culinary Experience
Guests were treated to a macadamia-inspired tasting menu crafted by the 12 Apostles culinary team. The team prepared silky dressings using cold-pressed macadamia oil as well as inventive takes on baked and roasted dishes featuring the nut in unexpected, delightful ways. The meal truly showcased the ingredient’s versatility, richness, and subtle buttery flavour. Every dish served was a nod to South Africa’s agricultural ingenuity and the growing global reputation of local macadamias as both a premium product and a homegrown treasure.
25 Voices, One Shared Message
The event hosted 25 of South Africa’s leading influencers and media outlets, all united to amplify the macadamia message. From health food bloggers and wellness writers to culinary creators and lifestyle editors, the room was buzzing with content creation, conscious conversation, and wholesome connection. Together, these voices will be central to the next chapter of the campaign, helping to bring macadamia oil and kernel into the homes and hearts of South African consumers.
Whether it’s adding macadamia oil to the weekend braai marinade or packing kernels into a post-match snack, this is about making macadamias part of our national food culture.
We extend our gratitude to everyone who joined us in Cape Town and to all those who will share the message far and wide. Your voice matters and together, we are building not just a market, but a community.
