July 2025 — Johannesburg, South Africa
On 21 July 2025, Macadamias South Africa NPC (SAMAC) was honoured to participate in the United Kingdom (UK) Buyers Roundtable hosted by the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI) in Johannesburg. The engagement, facilitated by the United Kingdom Trade Partnerships Programme (UKTP), served as a dynamic platform for strengthening trade relationships between South African agri-exporters and UK buyers.
This roundtable brought together representatives from key South African agricultural export councils and industry bodies including macadamias, fresh produce, and processed foods. The cohort of UK Buyers included Tickeat (travel catering snacks for airlines and cruises), Fountain Fresh Imports (fruit and vegetables), Planet Organic (health foods, oils, nuts, dried fruit and seeds) and Wine 52 (wine and beverages). These buyers were interested in sourcing high-quality, sustainably grown products from South Africa.

SAMAC was represented by Market Access & Development Manager, Kerisha Raghunandan, who delivered a presentation on the current state, growth outlook, and export readiness of the South African macadamia industry. The presentation highlighted South Africa’s position as the world’s largest producer of macadamias, underpinned by world-class farming practices, strict quality standards, and a deep commitment to sustainability. Included were the details of local Processors and available nut styles for export.
As the UK continues to seek sustainable, high-quality agricultural imports, South Africa’s macadamia sector is well-positioned to meet this demand. The discussions at the roundtable explored how both countries can deepen trade partnerships, support inclusive growth across value chains, and ensure compliance with import standards.
The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC), highlighted the strong inter-sectoral collaboration driving South Africa’s agri-export momentum.
SAMAC extends sincere thanks to UKTP, SACCI, and the DTIC for facilitating such a strategic and impactful dialogue. We remain committed to representing the interests of South African macadamia growers and exporters on the global stage and look forward to further engagements that enable shared growth and opportunity.
