SAMAC attended the International Dried Fruit and Nuts congress to represent the South African macadamia industry, engage with global stakeholders and monitor developments impacting future market access and demand.
South African macadamias made their first-ever TV debut on 5 April 2026, on MasterChef South Africa, a global culinary franchise. The dedicated macadamia episode tackled a key industry challenge: shifting macadamias from a “snack” to a versatile cooking ingredient. Contestants created plant-based café-style dishes, using macadamia nuts and oil in at least three recipes, showcasing their buttery flavour, crunch, and versatility.
SAMAC’s participation at Gulfood 2026 reinforced South Africa’s position as a credible, globally competitive macadamia origin. Representing the industry alongside six South African processing companies, SAMAC delivered a unified presence that strengthened buyer confidence, opened new trade and lobbying pathways, and supported the strategic objective of market diversification beyond current destinations.
