SAMAC attended the International Dried Fruit and Nuts congress to represent the South African macadamia industry, engage with global stakeholders and monitor developments impacting future market access and demand.
South African macadamias made their first-ever TV debut on 5 April 2026, on MasterChef South Africa, a global culinary franchise. The dedicated macadamia episode tackled a key industry challenge: shifting macadamias from a “snack” to a versatile cooking ingredient. Contestants created plant-based café-style dishes, using macadamia nuts and oil in at least three recipes, showcasing their buttery flavour, crunch, and versatility.
Macadamias made their mark at the 2025 Food & Home Awards, reaffirming their place as one of South Africa’s most versatile and health-conscious ingredients.
On 19 September 2025, the Ministers responsible for Food Security and Nutrition from G20 nations gathered in Cape Town, South Africa, for a landmark meeting of the Food Security Task Force Agricultural Working Group and Ministerial. As SAMAC we were honoured to attend this high-level dialogue, representing our growing macadamia industry in a global forum.
On 18 September 2025, The World Macadamia Organisation, in collaboration with SAMAC, proudly hosted the Love Macadamias South Africa campaign. The campaign is a dynamic initiative that aims to inspire South Africans to discover the nutritional value and versatility of our homegrown macadamia nuts, and locally pressed macadamia oil.
